Greening and Planting.
We’re dedicated to enhancing our urban environment through greening initiatives that brighten the city. Thanks to the contributions of our business community, we’ve implemented a range of initiatives planting-up spaces that everyone can enjoy.
You’ve likely noticed our:
• 140+ hanging baskets adorning the streets
• 14 stand-alone planters on Sidwell Street
• Barrier baskets on North Street
• 4 large yellow planters on South Street
• Parklet currently located on Musgrave Row
We work with local nursery Boyce’s, to provide seasonal displays that showcase the best of each season’s flora, enhancing the visual appeal of our streets. All planting our planting is maintained to ensure it remains in pristine condition.
We support Exeter’s Britain in Bloom campaign in collaboration with Exeter City Council, the University of Exeter and community partners. In 2024 we won a Gold Award in the Regional competition and won the BID category at National level.
Street Cleaning.
We understand the importance of making a positive first impression. That’s why we’re committed to providing year-round street cleansing in our business district.
Our Street Cleansing service, funded through business levy contributions, goes above and beyond the standard cleaning services offered by the City Council.
We target areas in need of deep cleaning to enhance the environment for local businesses and visitors. Our dedicated operatives are equipped with machinery capable of removing chewing gum and jet-washing pavements. They’re also on standby to address any issues reported by the InExeter team and levy payers, providing rapid-response cleansing when necessary
• Pavement jest washing
• Removal of human & animal waste, vomit, or litter
• Safe disposal of needles & associated waste
• Collection & disposal of abandoned debris and waste (excluding residential)
• Chewing gum removal

Place Improvements.
InExeter is actively making the case for investment in the public realm in two key areas of the city: Musgrave Row and Fore Street. We have commissioned leading urban designers from LDA to carry out initial analysis and generate early design ideas. Alongside this, we are engaging with the local community and stakeholders to further develop these ideas and build a strong evidence base for future improvements. Our aim is to create well-developed concept designs, ensuring we have investment-ready projects that can be delivered when funding opportunities arise.

Neighbourhood Action Days.
We host 4 Neighbourhood Action Days a year inviting Exeter businesses and members of the public to get involved in sprucing up key areas of the city. In 2025, Neighbourhood Action Days contributed:
• 180+ volunteer hours to enhancing Exeter’s public areas
• Cleared 80 wheelbarrows of weeds
• Revitalised four locations across the city
